How to Turn One Piece of Content Into 10 (Without Losing Your Mind)

If you’ve ever stared at your phone thinking, “I swear I JUST posted…how am I supposed to make more content?!” this one’s for you.

But the best part about doing ALL THE WORK it takes to do one piece of content, is that you can turn it into lots more super easily. You don’t need to create something new every single time you show up online. You just need to learn how to stretch one piece of content into many.

This is exactly how I save time in my own business and how I help my VA clients stay consistent.

Start With One: Your Core Piece of Content

Think of this as your “anchor.” It could be:

  • A blog post

  • A podcast or mini training

  • A “storytime” style caption

  • A piece of advice you’d share with a friend

  • A question your audience asks you on repeat

Once you have that one piece? You can turn it into so many more pieces of content across all of your platforms.

1. Instagram Post

Take the main idea and turn it into a feed post. This is probably the easiest one for my brain to think about because it can be short and choppy. You can use a good hook in a graphic to get people reading, and then give more information in the caption or use a photo.

2. Carousel

Do the same thing as above but break the key points into slides. Carousels get insane saves + shares because they’re easy to consume and people like to go back to them later. Think: “Swipe to learn…” and the content will flow easier.

3. Instagram Reel

Pick one part of the content and turn it into a reel. Maybe you just put text over a b-roll video of you or you do a voiceover that makes sense with the content. Reels don’t have to be fancy. Talk to the camera. Use text-only. Add trending audio. Done.

4. Stories

Stories are where the magic happens. I know it’s intimidating to share to stories at first, but the more you do it, the easier it becomes! Share behind-the-scenes of you making the content. Expand on it casually - bonus points if you can connect the content to a normal part of your life to build trust with your audience!

Create a poll or ask a question related to the topic. Stories are really low-pressure!

5. Pinterest Pin

Take your blog headline, carousel cover, or a quote from the content and turn it into a Pinterest graphic. Link it right back to the blog or your Instagram. Pinterest is not a normal social media site, you have to think about it as a search engine and it will = long-term traffic.

6. YouTube Video

This CAN be simple! It doesn’t have to anything with fancy editing or long form content at all. If you just take your content and talk about it for 5-8 minutes, that’s enough! For my content, I don’t ever turn it into YouTube videos and I definitely should!! This is amazing for SEO and you already became an expert when you wrote your core piece of content, so this shouldn’t be too tough!

7. YouTube Short

That Instagram short you did earlier, take that and upload it to YouTube shorts. Easy, quick, and repurposed = no extra work here!

8. LinkedIn Post

Turn your core content into a short post with 3–5 takeaways. If you shift the tone to be a bit more professional, you’ll be good at LinkedIn content! It’s another really easy way to repurpose with minimal work, but it hits a totally different audience with the same content. Guilty of never ever using LinkedIn either, but I totally should!

9. Threads Post

Think of Threads posts as the bite-sized version. If you just take your ideas from your core piece of content and turn them into one sentence threads (some with a CTA), you’ll be good to go on Threads. Don’t sleep on Threads though, I have gained SO MUCH from this year!

10. Email Newsletter

This is a good wrap up to the people who already know and trust you. Here’s where you get to expand, tell the stories, link it back to a full blog post, add your reel, link to resources…really nurture your audience who reads your newsletter!

Your email list is where people are actually paying attention, so it’s a perfect place to reinforce the message.

That’s the magic of taking one piece of content and repurposing it to live in multiple places!

If you keep this up weekly or monthly, you’ll have unlimited amount of content with minimal work! This is how I save my VA clients HOURS and how I stay consistent even with three kids, a full business, and a community to run.
