Keeping the Joy Alive in Your Business

Just because you’re the boss doesn’t mean you have to be burnt out and boring. In fact, one of the biggest lessons I’ve learned as an entrepreneur is that joy isn’t optional—it’s fuel. Without it, the business grind feels heavy. With it, you remember why you started in the first place.

Here are three simple ways I keep the joy alive in my own business life (and you can too):

1. Romanticize Your Workday

Your business deserves main character energy. Whether it’s your morning playlist, your favorite pen, or putting on real pants just for yourself (weird, but powerful), don’t underestimate the joy of micro-rituals.

The truth is, small choices add up. Lighting a candle, pouring your coffee into your “special” mug, or even rearranging your workspace can instantly shift the way you feel about your day. These little rituals tell your brain: this is my time, this matters.

2. Create Before You Consume

Starting your day by consuming content (scrolling social, emails, Slack pings) puts your brain in reactive mode. And once you’re there, it’s hard to pull yourself back into a space of originality.

Instead, flip the script. Begin by creating something first: a post, a paragraph, a plan. It doesn’t have to be massive. Even jotting down a few sentences in your notes app can shift the way you show up. You’ll stay truer to your voice, your priorities, and your energy.

3. CEO Play Time

This isn’t about “slacking off.” It’s about building space for experimentation, ideation, and joyful curiosity, the things that usually get shoved to the bottom of your list but actually spark the biggest breakthroughs.

Some ideas:

  • A weekly 90-min “CEO hour” for moodboarding or mapping goals

  • Hosting a “create with me” day (hello, accountability + fun)

  • Scheduling time to explore tools or even take that random biz training you’ve been eyeing

Play is productive. When you intentionally carve out time to explore and dream, you often stumble across your best ideas.

Keep Business Fun (and Sustainable)

Business doesn’t have to feel like a chore. In fact, it shouldn’t. When you build in small ways to create joy, your energy spills over into everything you do…our clients, your content, your growth.

And if you want to keep this energy alive, you don’t have to do it alone.

That’s exactly why I created The Inside Scoop Club, a community for entrepreneurs (and honestly, anyone who wants to feel more connected) who are tired of doing business the boring way. Inside, you’ll find conversations that keep things fun, honest, and real—because running your own thing should feel exciting, not exhausting.

If you want to continue having fun as an entrepreneur, come hang out with us. 👉 Join The Inside Scoop Club here.

We’ll be the ones in the corner romanticizing our Monday mornings with cute coffee and big ideas.

I want to join the club!
